And then the report card came home

.....shattering the reverie of the weekend bliss. I've failed as a mother. My child is average. Academically speaking. Quizzes and tests? No problem. Participation and listening skills? Poor. Organizational skills? Nonexistent. "He's funny, but distracting" one teacher said. "Does well on those assignments he remembers to hand in."

No, on second thought, I've not failed. The boy just has other strengths than sitting still and shutting up. We'll work on the critical issues - respect, work ethic, discipline, etc. and the rest is just details.
