Here is my favourite new singer in his performance of "Home" in the final competition.
After winning, Phillips' father revealed his son had suffered with a build up of kidney stones and underwent multiple operations during the Idol season to remove them. When he wins the American Idol title two nights later, he is overcome. The following rendition on that night will always be my favorite, because it shows his pain, relief and deep humanity.
