Appetizer
What are you proud of?
That I can see growth in my life. Maturity evidenced by self-control.
Soup
What is the best thing you’ve ever won as a prize?
Round trip airfare to Orlando.
Salad
Name something you do that is a waste of time.
Trying to make something that is 98% into something that is perfect.
Main Course
In what year of your life did you change the most?
1992. The year I gave birth.
My ability to love expanded exponentially. I finally began to understand my parents better because I was a parent. I related more effectively to others because raising a child is so very much an experience that is almost universal. I learned what patience really means but didn't always succeed at having it.
I compare that change to having lived in a shack for 35 years, and one day, I opened a door and discovered I now lived in a castle.
From poverty to royalty: this is how much my capacity for life exponentially increased the day my son was born.
Dessert
Where is a place you consider to be very tranquil?
Right here. In front of my computer, enjoying the breezes of friends and the clink of our glasses as we toast one more great feast.

Sometimes somebody asks "when are you becoming an adult ?" Finally there is no age for that. But I think it's the day when you give birth to a child and suddenly are responsible for somebody else then yourself. I changed that day too !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Feast!
ReplyDeleteClinks my glass with yours.
Have a fabulous Friday!
Mine is up too
I enjoyed your feast! Mine's up.

My Life as Annie!
Beautiful description of becoming a parent... it's also, to me, like waking up in Oz... everything is brighter and more vibrant, but there's also a lotta weird stuff you never had to deal with before *wink*
ReplyDeletepsssst... self control is overrated! :)

I would love to be wherever that photo was taken! Where was it? Nice Feast, by the way :)
ReplyDeleteSuperb feast! Cheers! The appetizer was especially good.
ReplyDeleteGreat FEast. I especially enjoyed your main course. My feast is now up if you would like to join.
ReplyDeleteGreat feast! Love the image! When we had our kids we found the world a different place. I look at those people who have not had kids and I feel sorry for them. They are missing out on this whole other world.
ReplyDeleteselena you're funny. self control is a daily choice which I still often don't make... :-) but feel much better when I do.
ReplyDeletectina, that photo was on Jumpingpound Ridge in Kananaskis Country, west of Calgary, Alberta. To get there, I had to hike/bike up 600 metre elevation over 5 km. The entire hike/bike took 6 hours but was the best mom/son bonding experience ever!
In designing spacecraft, there's a saying that "better" is the enemy of "good." Your salad reminded me of that, and it's something I've yet to learn.
