we have all heard what we wanted to hear
"truth" that sounds right to our ears
but what wisdom is there within us
to live based on the feeling of our hearts
how many times has instinct let us down
never to be thought through
never to be questioned
say what you really mean
when your ambition calls you
for what use is there in praying
if you will only hear what you want to hear?
we speak of fighting to resist this world
but what about the battle within us?
if we have chosen to live against the grain
then why are we all facing the same way?
there is no difference between us and them
if we all blindly seek truth from sentiments

by As I Lay Dying
As I enter my 40's these deeper questions just reel and spin in my mind. Especially with regards to the fragility of life. My dad, an unbeliever, is dying of cancer and my mom has a mental illness. If I weren't a Christian, I'd know I couldn't cope at all... especially since I face most of this alone. God's precious word and your blogs have been inspirational. Thank you Joyce, A distant sister-in-Christ.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Another line from another song says "I'd rather be called weak than to die thinking I was strong." In my weakness, He is strong.
ReplyDeleteOne cd I've found amazing in this realm is Solace: For Seasons of Suffering by Steve Bell from signpostmusic.com. I recommend it. The audio magazine on disc 1 is very good and the music is solid and uplifting.
