Gratitude in the Grunt Work

If we look at the sum total of our lives,
We cannot help but be discouraged
At what we have not accomplished.

Yet,

If we look at the sum total of our lives,
We cannot help but be grateful
For all that we have accomplished.

* * *

That I am able to see the fresh snow on the mountains,
I am grateful.

That I am able to use my hands to type these words,
I am grateful.

That my mind is clear and logical (most of the time),
I am grateful.

That I still weigh far less than I did two years ago,
I am grateful.

That I can set goals and take steps to accomplish that which I have not yet accomplished,
I am grateful.

That my son is healthy, active and vibrant; that he cares about his grades; that he is loyal to his friends; that what I say still matters to him,
I am grateful.

That my husband and I have had 26 years to learn, laugh, love and grow together,
I am grateful.

That I have female friends who care enough to cry with me and pray for me,
I am grateful.

That I have four women I can coach toward leading life-changing small groups,
I am grateful.

That my boss cares about more than just my deadlines,
I am grateful.

That I can make any choice, good or bad,
I am grateful.

That God is good,
I am grateful.

That He loves me,
I am speechless.
