I watered my garden today

The fresh smell of moist earth,
The clearing of dead growth,
Brushing away leaves from last fall,
Reinforcing the stone barrier against that pesky digging critter that thinks there's a skunk condo underneath my front porch.
Observing with child-like anticipation the still-intact tulips beginning to form blooms, thankful the deer have lingered at other gardens more tempting.
Preparing for satisfying labor to shortly come.
Could I dare put annuals out this soon in my south bed?

  1. my friend Betty says the ground is too cold for annuals, but pots aren't. She's already got pots of pansies on her deck, because pansies are hardy. She bought them at Rona's.
